Mad Professor Milestone Germanium Fuzz Handwired is a hand-built analogue fuzz pedal with germanium transistors, a specially developed transformer circuit, 2-band EQ and True Bypass. It combines the dynamic character of classic fuzz circuits with greater flexibility for modern pedalboards, where buffers and other effects can otherwise alter the behaviour of traditional germanium fuzz pedals.

Milestone is designed for both electric guitar and bass and responds clearly to picking dynamics and playing intensity. Separate Bass and Treble controls allow the frequency balance to be matched to the instrument, amplifier and surrounding effects. The Handwired version is built by hand in Finland using through-hole components, Alpha potentiometers and switches, and Switchcraft connectors.

Germanium fuzz with vintage-inspired character

Milestone draws inspiration from early fuzz sounds and vintage analogue mixing consoles. Its germanium transistors provide a dynamic and touch-sensitive fuzz response that changes according to how hard you play.

Lighter picking can produce a softer, more restrained sound, while a stronger attack drives the circuit into more aggressive fuzz with increased harmonic content.

Transformer circuit for flexible pedalboard placement

Many traditional germanium fuzz pedals work best early in the signal chain and can be strongly affected by buffered pedals placed before them. Milestone uses a specially developed transformer circuit that makes it significantly less sensitive to placement.

This allows the pedal to be used after buffers and other effects while retaining its characteristic fuzz response and playing dynamics, giving you greater freedom when arranging a pedalboard.

2-band EQ with Bass and Treble

The built-in 2-band EQ provides separate Bass and Treble controls, allowing the low and high frequencies to be adjusted to suit the instrument, amplifier and other effects in the chain.

The EQ also makes Milestone suitable for electric bass, where control over the low and high end is particularly useful for balancing weight and clarity.

Designed to work with other pedals

Milestone is designed to combine well with overdrive, boost, distortion and modulation effects. The transformer circuit reduces many of the placement restrictions associated with traditional germanium fuzz pedals and makes it easier to experiment with effect order.

Hand-built in Finland

Milestone is part of the Mad Professor Handwired Series and is built by hand in Finland. Construction includes through-hole components, Alpha potentiometers and switches, and Switchcraft connectors.
