Two Notes Torpedo Captor X PRO is a professional load box, attenuator and speaker simulator for guitar amplifiers, developed in collaboration with Ampete Engineering. With 150 W power handling, support for 4, 8 and 16 ohms, 13 programmable attenuation steps, three load modes and True Stereo DynIR, it provides extensive control over both amplifier loading and the finished direct guitar signal.

Captor X PRO can be used to reduce cabinet volume, run an amplifier without a connected speaker cabinet or send a fully processed guitar sound directly to a mixer, PA or audio interface. Balanced stereo XLR outputs, separate pre- and post-FX loops, 128 presets, MIDI and USB-C make it well suited as the centrepiece of both studio and live rigs.

Overview and features

Multi-Impedance for 4, 8 and 16 ohms

Captor X PRO uses Multi-Impedance technology developed with Ampete Engineering and supports amplifier outputs rated at 4, 8 or 16 ohms. Maximum power handling is 150 W, making it suitable for use with powerful valve amplifiers.

13-step attenuator and silent operation

The programmable passive attenuator offers 13 fixed attenuation steps in addition to full speaker level and mute. This allows the amplifier to be driven at the desired level while keeping the volume from a connected cabinet under control.

Three load modes

Three selectable load modes let you change the amplifier's response and playing feel. Reactive Natural emulates more traditional loudspeaker behaviour, Reactive Presence provides a more pronounced upper-frequency response and tighter feel, while Resistive offers a flatter load characteristic and a different dynamic response.

True Stereo DynIR

The built-in DynIR engine provides advanced cabinet, microphone and room simulation. Captor X PRO includes 24 DynIR cabinets, 8 microphone models and 12 room simulations. Virtual microphone positioning provides considerably more flexibility than a conventional static IR.

True Stereo DynIR can operate in Stereo Mode with two independently positioned microphones or IRs, or in Dual Mono mode where the two signals are routed separately to individual outputs.

Pre-FX and post-FX loops

A mono pre-FX loop is positioned before the internal cabinet processing, while the stereo post-FX loop sits after the internal processing. This allows effects such as EQ and compression to be placed before DynIR, with stereo delay or reverb positioned after the cabinet simulation.

The Pre-FX Return can also be used as a line input for external preamps and modellers, while the Pre-FX Send provides access to the signal before the internal processing.

Virtual Load Shaper

Virtual Load Shaper allows the processed direct signal to be shaped using virtual impedance curves. It can be used to influence bass response, attack and overall tonal balance, with the result available through the Line/DI and headphone outputs.

128 presets and direct control

A colour display, dedicated function buttons and two rotary controls provide direct access to key parameters. Up to 128 presets can be stored for fast switching between attenuation, load, DynIR and routing configurations.

Torpedo Remote and GENOME

Torpedo Remote provides access to advanced Captor X PRO settings from a computer, tablet or mobile device, including virtual cabinets, microphone positioning, rooms, effects, routing and all 128 presets.

GENOME Captor X PRO Edition is included together with the Premium Post FX Suite featuring Astro Repeater, TetraVerb, Planet and Aether.
