The SR5FMDX2-NTL is part of Ibanez’s Premium series, based on the renowned SR platform, which has been a leading small-body bass design for over 35 years. It combines light weight and comfortable playability with versatile tone-shaping options, making it well-suited for both long playing sessions and a wide range of musical styles.

Construction and Design

The body is crafted from multiple tonewoods: a flamed maple and ash top, ash and flamed maple sides, and a bubinga back. The 5-piece panga panga and purpleheart neck is reinforced with KTS titanium rods for increased stability. The flamed maple fretboard features oval abalone inlays.

Features and Performance

Two Nordstrand Big Break pickups deliver a powerful and dynamic sound. The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ is tuned for these pickups and includes a bypass function with passive tone control via the treble pot. A 3-way mid-frequency switch (250, 450, or 600 Hz) provides additional tonal control.

Connections and Controls

Controls include volume, pickup balance, bass boost/cut, treble boost/cut (with passive tone in bypass mode), and midrange boost/cut with frequency selector. The MR5S Mono-Rail bridge features 16.5 mm string spacing for isolated string resonance and stable intonation.
