Gibson 1959 ES-335 Reissue Ultra Heavy Aged recreates one of the most legendary instruments in electric guitar history. Built by the Gibson Custom Shop to the exact 1959 specifications, it delivers the timeless combination of tone, response, and feel that has made the ES-335 a favorite among professional guitarists for over six decades.

Overview and construction

The body features a three-ply maple/poplar/maple structure with a solid maple centerblock for added stability, long sustain, and reduced feedback. The solid mahogany neck has a comfortable Medium C profile scanned from original examples, topped with an Indian rosewood fingerboard featuring 22 medium jumbo frets and classic pearloid dot inlays.

Electronics and tone

Equipped with two Custombucker humbuckers featuring Alnico 3 magnets and nickel-silver covers. The pickups are un-potted to preserve a lively vintage character and deliver a warm, dynamic tone with excellent note separation. Electronics include CTS 500K audio taper pots and Paper-in-Oil capacitors for authentic 1950s response and smooth tonal control.

Details and hardware

Outfitted with a classic ABR-1 bridge, lightweight aluminum stop bar tailpiece, and Kluson Single Line / Double Ring tuners. Gold Butyrate Top Hat knobs with dial pointers complete the historically accurate appearance. The Murphy Lab Ultra Heavy Aged finish gives the guitar the look and feel of an instrument that’s been played for decades, with aged nickel hardware and authentic lacquer checking.
