Guild Starfire Custom DC GVT Sweet Tea

Guild Starfire Custom DC GVT Sweet Tea – semi-hollow electric guitar with Dynasonic pickups and Guild Vibrato

Guild Starfire Custom DC GVT Sweet Tea is a double-cutaway semi-hollow electric guitar from Guild's Newark St. Collection, designed for players who want classic 1960s-inspired character with modern playability and refined details. Its arched maple top and back, maple sides and set mahogany neck provide a resonant semi-hollow construction with clear attack and an airy acoustic character.

Two DeArmond Dynasonic single-coil pickups deliver a bright, punchy and articulate sound with distinctive twang. Individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup are complemented by a Master Volume, making it easy to change the overall output level without altering the individual pickup settings.

The Sweet Tea gloss polyurethane finish is paired with a Guild Vibrato tailpiece, Guild Tune-o-matic bridge, Grover G2TM open-gear tuners and Guild's extensive Custom Trim Package with an ebony fingerboard, V-block inlays, binding and decorative purfling.

Overview and features

Double-cutaway semi-hollow maple body

Starfire Custom DC features a double-cutaway semi-hollow body with an arched maple top and back and maple sides. The construction provides an open, woody foundation with clear attack, while the double-cutaway shape offers good access to the upper frets.

DeArmond Dynasonic single-coil pickups

Dynasonic pickups were originally developed by Harry DeArmond in the 1940s and have a distinctive character compared with many other single-coil designs. They deliver bright highs, punchy attack and strong definition with characteristic twang, making them particularly well suited to the resonant semi-hollow construction.

Individual Volume and Tone controls with Master Volume

Each pickup has its own Volume and Tone control, allowing the neck and bridge pickups to be balanced independently. A separate Master Volume then lets you adjust the guitar's overall output without changing the individual pickup settings.

Vintage Soft U mahogany neck

The set mahogany neck uses Guild's Vintage Soft U profile, providing a substantial and traditionally inspired playing feel that complements the guitar's vintage character.

Ebony fingerboard with V-block inlays

The ebony fingerboard is decorated with mother-of-pearl and abalone V-block inlays. Ivory-coloured fingerboard binding reinforces the refined Custom aesthetic.

Guild Vibrato and Tune-o-matic bridge

The Guild Tune-o-matic bridge is paired with a Guild Vibrato tailpiece, providing smooth and expressive vibrato capability while retaining a classic semi-hollow layout.

Custom Trim Package

The Custom trim package includes ivory-coloured binding around the body, headstock, F-holes and fingerboard, 5-ply black and ivory purfling on the top and back, black and ivory F-hole purfling, a tortoise pickguard and mother-of-pearl Guild Peak and Chesterfield headstock inlays.

Sweet Tea gloss polyurethane finish

The Sweet Tea gloss polyurethane finish gives the guitar a warm, classic appearance while providing a durable surface for regular use.
