Construction and Neck

The RG470DX features a body made of meranti, a lightweight wood with an even frequency response suitable for a variety of tones, especially distorted sounds. The neck is a Wizard III profile, slightly thicker and rounder than the standard Wizard, with a 400 mm radius. The fretboard is jatoba with 24 jumbo frets.

Electronics and Bridge

It is equipped with three Quantum pickups — humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, and a singlecoil in the middle — controlled by a 5-way switch along with master tone and volume controls. The bridge is an Edge-Zero II tremolo, which contributes to stable tuning.

Pickup Configurations and Tone Options

The switch positions offer combinations of full series and coil-split modes. Coil-splitting activates one coil, halving the output and producing a brighter, more open sound with cleaner bass. These are wired in parallel with the middle pickup to reduce noise, suitable for clean and lightly overdriven tones. The position of the active coil near the bridge or neck affects the tonal character.
