The Ibanez JBM9999-AMM is a signature model developed in collaboration with Jake Bowen, guitarist of the American band Periphery. Known for their use of polyrhythmic structures in modern progressive metal, Periphery has played a key role in the development of the djent movement. This guitar is designed to meet the technical and tonal demands of that style.

Construction and Materials

The body is made of basswood, providing a neutral tonal foundation for the powerful pickups. The neck is a five-piece maple/walnut construction that offers strength and stability for down-tuned playing. The bound ebony fretboard features a custom JBM inlay at the 12th fret.

Playability and Details

Equipped with 27 jumbo frets, the guitar features Ibanez's Prestige fret edge treatment for a smooth feel along the edges. The fixed Gibraltar Elite bridge offers low-profile stability and direct string-to-body vibration transfer. String spacing is set to 10.8 mm for precise control during rhythmically complex passages.

Pickups and Electronics

The guitar includes a DiMarzio® Mirage single coil in the neck position (passive, neodymium) and a DiMarzio® Mirage humbucker in the bridge position (passive, ceramic). This combination is tuned for clarity in both down-tuned riffs and fast melodic transitions. The factory tuning is customized for progressive metal: 1D, 2A, 3F, 4C, 5G, 6C.

Components and Finish

The nut is made of Graph Tech® BLACK TUSQ XL®, and the hardware comes in a combination of satin chrome and satin black. The instrument is delivered with a fitted hardcase.
