Gibson 1963 Country Western Heavy Aged Smoked Natural
A reimagined classic
Originally introduced in 1962 as a square-shouldered variation of the Southern Jumbo, the Country Western model has long been a favorite among players. Sharing the Hummingbird’s body shape but with a natural finish and simple tortoise pickguard, it combines understated elegance with rich, resonant tone.
Construction and materials
This 1963 reissue features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides with a rosewood marquetry strip. Multi-ply binding adorns both the top and back, while single-ply binding on the fretboard completes the vintage aesthetic.
Neck and playability
The mahogany neck has a comfortable round profile and an Indian rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. A 24.75" scale length and 43.8 mm bone nut deliver classic Gibson playability and balance.
Hardware and finish
Equipped with a rosewood belly-up bridge, bone nut and saddle, and nickel Gotoh tuners with white buttons, every detail has been crafted for authenticity. The Murphy Lab Heavy Aged finish gives the instrument the worn-in character of a lifelong companion.
