The Gibson J-45 Standard Purple Burst carries forward the timeless legacy of “The Workhorse” – Gibson’s most popular acoustic model since 1942. Renowned for its warmth, balance, and versatility, this round-shoulder dreadnought now arrives in a striking Purple Burst finish while preserving its classic tonal identity.

Construction and tone

A solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides deliver the signature J-45 sound — full, balanced, and responsive, with strong projection. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing enhances resonance and clarity, making it suitable for strumming, picking, or performing live.

Neck and playability

The mahogany SlimTaper™ neck offers fast, comfortable playability. Its rosewood fingerboard features 20 frets and simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays, joined with a compound dovetail neck joint for excellent tonal transfer and sustain.

Electronics and hardware

Outfitted with an L.R. Baggs VTC undersaddle pickup and active preamp, the J-45 Standard Purple Burst is stage and studio ready. TUSQ nut, saddle, and bridge pins ensure clarity and sustain, while Grover Rotomatic tuners provide rock-solid stability. Includes Gibson hardshell case.
