The Neumann MCM 114 Set Drums/Percussion is a complete miniature microphone system designed for close miking drums and percussion in live applications. The set is intended for mounting on instruments such as snare, toms, floor toms and similar percussion sources where fast placement, secure mounting and clear sound reproduction are essential.

The system is built around Neumann’s cardioid KK 14 capsule and is designed to deliver a natural, focused and detailed sound even at high sound pressure levels. Its modular construction also makes the system easy to adapt, service and use in different stage and production environments.

Designed for natural close miking of drums and percussion

The MCM system is developed to reproduce the characteristic sound of acoustic instruments in live use with high tonal accuracy. For drums and percussion, this means a more balanced sound with clear attack, strong body in the midrange and bass, and good treble transparency.

KK 14 capsule with cardioid pickup pattern

The set uses the KK 14, a cardioid capsule developed for focused pickup and good separation from surrounding stage sound. The capsule is designed to work with both soft and loud sources, making it suitable for a wide range of dynamic applications.

With low self-noise and very high maximum SPL, the system is well adapted for percussion sources where transient detail and high sound pressure handling are important.

MC 7 clip for drums and percussion

The MCM 114 Set Drums/Percussion includes the MC 7 clip, designed for mounting on drums and percussion instruments. It is especially suitable for snare drums, toms, floor toms and similar instruments where the microphone needs to be placed close to the head or resonant area without interfering with performance.

The included SH 150 gooseneck allows the capsule to be aimed precisely at the desired point on the instrument, making position adjustment easier during soundcheck and live use.

Modular construction and flexible connectivity

A key part of the MCM system is its modular design. Capsule, gooseneck, cable, output stage and clip are separate components, making it easier to replace parts and adapt the system to other instruments or connection requirements.

This set includes the AC 31 connection cable with 3.5 mm mini jack, the MCM 100 output stage and the WS 110 windscreen. The system is also supplied in a soft bag for protected transport and storage.
