Neumann MCM 114 Set Guitar – clip-on microphone system for guitar, ukulele, Dobro, acoustic bass and cello
The Neumann MCM 114 Set Guitar is a complete miniature microphone system designed for close miking acoustic string instruments in live applications. The set is intended for mounting on guitar, ukulele, Dobro, acoustic bass and cello, combining Neumann’s sonic standards with fast setup, reliable stage operation and flexible use in live environments.
The system is built around the cardioid KK 14 capsule and is designed to reproduce the natural tone of the instrument with clear balance across bass, midrange and treble. Its modular construction also makes the system easy to adapt, service and expand over time.
Designed for natural close miking in live applications
The MCM system is developed to provide a more natural and neutral result when close miking acoustic instruments on stage. The capsule design is engineered to deliver more body, especially in the bass and midrange, while maintaining strong treble transparency.
This makes the MCM 114 Set Guitar particularly suitable for stage environments where the character of the instrument needs to be reproduced clearly without sounding thin or harsh. The consistent tonal behaviour across capsules also saves time during setup and EQ adjustment when multiple microphones are used at once.
KK 14 capsule with cardioid pickup pattern
This set includes the KK 14, a cardioid capsule designed for focused pickup and good separation from surrounding stage sound. It is intended to work with both soft and loud sound sources, making the system suitable for a wide range of live production scenarios.
With very low self-noise of 23 dBA and a maximum sound pressure level of 153 dB SPL, the capsule can handle both nuanced playing and stronger attack without losing control or detail.
MC 9 Clip Guitar for secure and gentle mounting
The set includes the MC 9 Clip Guitar, a clip designed for attaching the capsule and gooseneck to the body of a guitar, ukulele, Dobro, acoustic bass or cello. The mounting solution is designed to be both stable and gentle on the instrument surface.
The included SH 150 gooseneck allows precise aiming of the microphone towards the sound source, making position adjustment easier during soundcheck and live performance.
Modular construction and flexible connectivity
A key part of the MCM system is its modular construction. Capsule, gooseneck, cable, output stage and clip are separate components, making it easier to replace parts or adapt the system for other instruments and workflows.
The system supports multiple cable options including 3.5 mm jack, Lemo, 4-pin mini-XLR and MicroDot, and is compatible with various wireless bodypacks. This set also includes the MCM 100 output stage for wired operation.
